San Diego Fishing Charters, Guide Service and Lobster Fishing

Offshore fishing has arrived early here in San Diego

Just 25-50 miles south of San Diego we have bluefin tuna showing from 25 pounds up to over 100 pounds, and they’re biting.

A lot of the action has been during the night time hours on an assortment of jigs, the heavy knife jig, and flat falls. Heavy line, 100-200 lb leaders is getting the job done.

More good news is that the last few days have seen the bluefin starting to bite during the daylight hours as well. We’re seeing schools on sonar, breezing schools and some small foam pits. Most of those fish are coming on fly-lined baits or sinker rigs with 25-40 lb test and fluorocarbon leaders with a small circle hook.

The surface temp has been 60.3 to 61 degrees.

We’re also getting yellowtail on kelp paddies, which is just all about finding the right kelp. If you find the right one there are a lot of yellowtail on them. They are biting 25-30 lb test just fine.

We’re VERY EXCITED about the season and are taking bookings daily.
