Offshore Report: Giant Bluefin Tuna 6/15/18

We went outside today in search of bluefin tuna and ran into some giants. Our clients boated a 199, 186, 78 and 54 pounder. The two “smaller” ones came on a popper and surface iron, both from a foaming school on the surface. The two big ones came on Yummy Flyers. Fishing is really good right now, as you can tell. Local offshore fishing ended on a high note in 2017, actually epic fishing, and the start of 2018 is no different. From yellowtail just off Point Loma and the Coronado Islands to the bluefin – its all happening in January. “Wow” is the word.
